Many of us experienced the facilitator training in Charleston in December. Whether you attended or not, this Post is to ask for your comments on the following:
What are the most important opportunities or needs we each face in our local DBSA Chapters that could most effectively be addressed through the COMBINED EFFORTS of several (or all) of us?
The presumption is that we would collect as many ideas here as possible, maybe over the next 2-4 weeks. Only then would they be listed in one new Post so discussions about ranking can occur. At the same time, those who add Comments can also indicate their willingness to contribute to the work of planning and/or addressing the Opportunity/Need.
I will throw out an example of what I mean (and this will be the first response to this Post):
"HOW ABOUT THE IDEA OF CREATING & ASSEMBLING THE DOCUMENTS NECESSARY FOR EACH CHAPTER TO HAVE A WELCOME KIT?" It would be given to each new participant when they first attend a support group meeting and it could easily be personalized for each Chapter.

Advice about Helping Members Who Can't Get To Meetings
Hi all,
I am sending this to those of you in the WV longer-established DBSA chapters, because I have a question about someone who has contacted me and come to one meeting. Since then, 3 more meetings, he calls to tell me that he can’t come to the meeting and why. My challenge is that my phone conversations with him are working into a lengthy and separate support meeting for two. It doesn’t feel right to me, but I’m new at this. He does not use the internet.
So, for members who can’t get to meetings, what is the best way to help them? Have any of you had similar situations and/or do you have some advice for me? I appreciate your time!!
Thanks,
Lucy
